Mental Health Crisis on Horizon
Our current mental health infrastructure is not equipped to handle the amount of services that are required during this uncertain time. Examining data from March 2019 to March 2020 reveals that calls to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA’s) disaster distress hotline increased 891 percent from March 2019 to March 2020. This is an explosion. Funding does not meet the current needs for mental health supports.
