CFBHN welcomes Larry Allen as its new Vice President for Innovation and Performance Improvement having re-joined the company in late November 2011. Mr. Allen holds Master's degrees in both Social Work and Business Administration and is a licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Licensed Healthcare Risk Manager. He has 18 years' experience in clinical practice, performance improvement and risk management and has worked in a variety of settings including hospital, outpatient treatment programs and with administrative organizations. Mr. Allen is responsible for the overall performance improvement and data functions within CFBHN. He resides in Pinellas County.
Marcia Monroe has worked for CFBHN for eight years most recently serving as Vice President for Provider Services. She now assumes responsibility for the greatly expanded department of Network Development and Clinical Services. She holds Master's degrees in Business Administration and Social Work and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Her 30 plus years in the field includes administrative and direct care experiences in hospital, community mental health settings and access centers as well as Utilization Care/Account Manager for two behavioral health companies managing regional and national accounts. She is a well-recognized trainer in a variety of clinical topics as is recognized as an expert in the field of co-occurring disorders. She resides in Hillsborough County.
CFBHN continues to participate in the NIATx Strengthening Treatment Access and Retention State Implementation grant (STAR-SI), a national program funded by SAMHSA CSAT and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. The goals of the grant are to increase access and retention for individuals seeking substance abuse treatment.
Six Network agencies have participated in the grant. DACCO reduced admission paperwork by 50% and Manatee Glens increased the number of admissions from detox to outpatient by over 30%. The Harbor Behavioral Healthcare Institute has seen a 50% increase in the number of admissions from detox to outpatient. ACTS continues to increase referrals to their outpatient program following detox. Following the grant completion, CFBHN plans to develop a learning collaborative to teach the improvement process and develop a systematic improvement process.
The Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF International) announced that Central Florida Behavioral Health Network, Inc. (CFBHN) has been accredited for a period of three years for all of its Managing Entity contracts and services. This is the first accreditation that CARF has awarded to Central Florida Behavioral Health Network. Additionally, Central Florida Behavioral Health Network is the first Managing Entity to be accredited in the State of Florida.
This accreditation decision represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to an organization and shows Central Florida Behavioral Health Network�s substantial conformance to the CARF standards. An organization receiving a three year accreditation has undergone a rigorous peer review process and has demonstrated to the CARF survey team during the onsite visit that its programs and services are of the highest quality, measurable and accountable.

Florida Partners in Crisis in collaboration with the Florida Substance Abuse and Mental Health Corporation is pleased to announce the 2010 Reinvestment Grant Conference on July 15 and 16, 2010. The conference will feature national speakers as well as 20 breakout sessions presented by state and local experts in the areas of criminal justice, mental health and substance abuse programs. Sessions will target the successes as well as the challenges facing those who work and advocate on behalf of people with mental illnesses and substance use disorders who become involved in the criminal justice system. The conference is open to all participants and is not limited to counties that have received a Criminal Justice Substance Abuse and Mental Health Reinvestment Grant.
In addition to key information sessions, this year�s conference will feature a consumer art show and sale on Thursday evening.

Under the direction of Dr. Robert Nixon, Community Director, an Employee Satisfaction/Stress Survey has been developed and implemented. Participation is open to all Network agencies. The results of the survey will be used to improve overall agency operations. The data collected will allow agencies to benchmark results from other agencies� results, identifying best practices to improve employee morale and retention.
CFBHN in conjunction with the Florida Department of Children and Families are promoting the transformation toward recovery and resiliency. Recovery and Resiliency Task Forces have been developed in Pasco, Pinellas, Hillsborough, Manatee, and Desoto Counties. The purpose of the task forces is to promote recovery based services by exploring resources in the community and mental health system.
