Trauma Informed Care

Central Florida Behavioral Health Network, (CFBHN), is partnering with the Department of Children and Families in advocating for the implementation of the Trauma Informed-System of Care in the SunCoast Region. It is the position of CFBHN that all contracted providers will adopt this significant model of providing services to those in need. This will involve the initial contact for screening and assessment through the entire treatment process. This form of care and service delivery deals with issues that often are not addressed and may continue to impact on an individual's health and well-being on an ongoing basis if not identified and dealt with when the person presents themselves for treatment. Many of you already have sent staff to the Trauma Informed Care, (TIC), training offered by DCF over the past few months. Many of you also have staff involved in the many Trauma Informed Care workgroups which are ongoing in the Circuits in the SunCoast Region. The continuing effort to embrace and expand the benefits of the TIC will only benefit those we serve and are most in need of our support and compassion.

CFBHN supports the recommendations identified by Nick Cox in the Regional Directors letter which states: We Are committed to following the recommendations of the Governor's Commission on Disabilities 2009 Report which includes:

The staff of Central Florida Behavioral Health Network is committed to moving forward and supporting the implementation of Trauma Informed Care throughout the behavioral health care system in the SunCoast Region. We hope you will also support this very important effort in the care and treatment of those who come to you for assistance as well.
